The dogbane family is widespread and quite diverse.  They may be herbs, vines, trees or shrubs.  Typically they have opposite or whorled leaves with no teeth.  The flowers have 5 sepals, 5 petals that are fused forming bell-shaped flowers, 5 stamens and 1 style.
